8 cameras to consider if you are a freelance designer

Two weeks ago I asked the readers for their opinion on what is the perfect camera for a freelance designer. I list the camera mentioned in the comments in this blog post, take a look at it and let me know if some unmissable cameras have been left out.
1. Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1
Recommended by Bea, who calls it a consumer cam with a little bit pro-options on the side.

2. Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Will suggests this camera, saying that it’ll allow you to do it all.

3. Nikon D90 DX
Great pictures, light weight, easy to use, lots of possibilities. Recommended by dom.

4. Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
Simone and Roxanna both recommend the Lumix GF1, a practical and more compact camera.

5. Canon EOS 7D
Great camera for a decent price, it is lightweight and comes with full HD video capabilities. Recommended by Dimitry.

6. Olympus PEN E-P1
Simple and compact, recommended by Jimmy Gunawan.

7. Canon Digital Rebel XSi
Recommended by Chad, Luke and Right Brain Technologies.

8. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100
Recommended by Right Brain Technologies.

This is a meaningless post and has no value to reader. Anyone one could give a list of random cameras, so what? Why these cameras are better for freelancers than anynother cameras? Sigh…
@Yagi I understand your criticism, I didn’t want to add more than what the readers wrote in their comments. Take it as a recommendation from some freelancers who’ve been using those cameras. It may be just a list, but it’s not random.
I really recommend the Canon 5 D Mark II because its a freakin awesome Camera and in my opinion its much better than the other Cameras on this list
I think a great budget medium camera that was missed is the Rebel T2i, huge improvements and new features over the XSi, shoots video almost identical to the 7D (which is considered the nicest video HDSLR on the market) and it’s not a slob when it comes to photos too. I think if you want a great utility camera its between the 7D and T2i, 7D’s durability is amazing while I am always nervous with the plastic bodied T2i.
New Canon 60D is no slouch but doesnt offer enough over the T2i to be worth it.
i can recomend the nikon d90 very much. we use it in our office and i use it also privat. its photos are very good. very sensitve light chip and with the raw files also good additional posibilites in working with contrasts and lights. but one big part ist to use also very good objectives.
I liked the post, it was a quick read. It would have been nice to see the average cost, how many megapixels each camera has, etc.
Anyway, thanks for the read
I will try to buy one hehee
I recently bought the Canon T2i and as a designer/publsiher it meets all my needs withtout having to spend up big.
I’m actually considering buying the Sony A55 fairly soon which should be arriving in the shops by now.
I got nikon D5000 that is not bad at all! :-9
Nikon D40 without doubt has to be on this list. For the quality of image, robustness of the device and price of the camera these days it has to be up there. Brilliant camera.
Would’ve been nicer if there was a comparison chart of some sort in this post.
Cannon Rebel++. I have long loved the “Rebel” line of Cannon. It is a great camera for both beginners and those who are more experienced.
I agree with Martin. +1 for Canon 5 D Mark II. Although I wouldn’t recommend it to freelance designer. Too expensive and advanced. It’s more a freelance photographer camera.
Really bad post man. Gotta at least give the bare-minimum… like price! not just a list of cameras
