Tim,

I agree with you. Futura is not easy to use well, and the fact that it shipped by default with every Mac OS X system probably didn’t help a thing!

However, I have seen both Avenir and Neutraface, both viable alternatives to Futura, in use very extensively in branding design. Today, I can’t walk very far around town without seeing either font family proudly displaying a company’s name or logotype. In this sense, I may in fact see Futura less than its two alternatives!

I would say good form except for futura. Love the choice of avenir though. Avenir is a great multi purpose font. I keep seeing futura pop up all over the place which i think is spoiling a great limited us font.
