Adobe recenty released a sneak peak video on Youtube to demonstrate a couple of features of the upcoming version of Adobe Photoshop CS6.

The first part of the demonstration showcases the new capabilities for processing RAW images. With that new version you will be able to be very detailed when working on the shadows and lights, with very accurate colour control.

In the second part, they introduce the most visible new feature: a dark interface. The interface can be customized to other colours, so if you don’t like the dark one fear not, you can switch back.

In the video they make no mention of when this new version will be released, but the sneak peak has a number 1 in the title, so there should be some other features presented on Youtube soon.

After giving it a try, I can say that Squarespace succeeded where Adobe Muse recently failed. Squarespace is a hosted tool for quick, beautiful and easy website creation. We took a little tour of the service for you.

Creating an account on SquareSpace is a snap, it took my about 30 seconds, no confirmation or email verification required. You’ll be ready to go very quickly.

Creating and editing your website

Out of the box, Squarespace presents you with a homepage, a blog, an about page, and a contact page. To edit anything on those pages, all you need is to be on content mode and click the buttons to edit wherever you want. Creating pages and post is also easy, you just need to go on the structure tab and to add a new page, gallery, or whatever content type you want to create.

Styling your site

Customizing your site with Squarespace is also very easy. Chose the style tab and you’ll be able to pick one of the 60+ templates, all customizable easily. Then you can also change fonts and colors quickly.

Website management

For me, the website management tab is one of the main arguments to work with Squarespace. The tools in there are really simple and time-saving.

Under Structure, you’ll be able to have an overview of your site’s architecture, change the URL of your site, or change the global settings. In members, you can manage all members and set the permissions very accuratly. Yes, Squarespace is an awesome tool if you want to manage your site with multiple authors.

Statistics are another great feature in Squarespace’s website management, you get all the most important stats you need for getting a good overview of your website. The stats are very detailed and elegantly designed.

Who should try Squarespace?

I think that Squarespace is an appropriate tool for two types of people. The first is freelancers who don’t know how to create a website and need one. If you don’t want to bother with the long process of learning, Squarespace is the perfect tool to quickly set up a website. The other one is web designers and web developers who want to create websites that their clients can easily manage without a long learning process.

Anyway, the only way to be really sure if Squarespace is for you or not is to try it. Trial is freel for 14 days, so go for it!

Our host, WebHostingBuzz, published on their blog this great infographic they created about the state of the mobile internet. I recommend web designers to take a good look at it, it should probably help you decide to go mobile for your next sites.

I didn’t test it, but the features of this new camera look quite impressive. A technology named “Light Field” is used to give a great flexibility to the photographer. Basically, it catches the entire light field when shooting pictures, which allows you to focus and re-focus anywhere in the picture… after taking the picture.

The other great feature is a consequence of Light Field: improved simplicity in the design and functionalities. The Light Field feature makes autofocus, flash, unnecessary modes or settings useless. The design of the object is also quite cool, so I’m sure this camera will be a hit.

This printer concept doesn’t seem to be aimed at designers, but I found the interface quite appealing. Apart from the cool interface, I don’t really see what this project by Artefact Group will improve in terms of printing experience.

We see so much new tech products every day that we are usually hard to impress. In the case of Inkling by Wacom, I’m really stunned by what they just released. Inkling is a pen that lets you freely draw whatever you want on paper and registers it. The data collected can then be transferred on your computer and used in vector formats.

I’ve never been a user of graphic tablets, I never could get used to it, but this is a product I’ll probably invest in. Make sure to check out the demo videos at the end of this post.
