Swiss bank notes contest winners

The Swiss National Bank is in the process to redesign the swiss banknotes, for that purpose a competition was launched in 2005 with 12 artists invited. This is quite old, but still interesting, take a look at the projects there.

How come the person who got the first prize didn’t get commissioned to do them?
I don’t know, but that was also the case for the previous contest. The contest winner didn’t work on the published banknotes.
the competition was probably held to popular vote, and then the government chose the designer they liked best out of the results. i agree with their choice though – Manuela Pfunder’s design looks much nicer to me than the others.
