The angry american Kirby

These Kirby covers, modified for the american market, are a good example of how design is influenced by culture. In this specific case I must admit that I don’t really understand why Kirby would have to be angry when coming to America, but it’s interesting to see the design changes from one country to another. It probably has to do with the overall acceptance of Kawaii-type figures in Japanese culture, but in America, they are still trying to target the 12-24 male demographic, so Warrior Kirby is supposed to appeal to them.
