Using Lorem Ipsum has become so common for graphic and web designers that the word itself is now synonymous with filler text. It is used to fill in text that is not yet available in order to get a better graphic presentation in mockups.

The text itself is a classic from Latin litterature that most designers don’t understand anyway. It is rather boring and can easily be replaced with something that makes more sense in context, or just with more entertaining text. Here are a few alternatives to Lorem Ipsum.

1. Fillerati

Fillerati is one of my personal favorite. With a good presentation, the website offers the possibility to choose texts from the classics. You start with your text, choose some simple markup and the length you need. Simple, but effective.

2. Fillerama

Fillerama works a bit the same, with a live preview of your text. Choose whether you want headers or not, how many paragraphs you want, and you are all set.

3. Blind text generator

A more general fake text generator that also includes Lorem Ipsum, but not only. You can choose between several texts in Latin or other languages. Choose your amount of words or signs needed, then generate. Too easy.

4. Beer Ipsum

The is the fake text generator that you shouldn’t use before you drive. Beer Ipsum lets you generate some Lorem Ipsum text with the amount of paragraphs you want, but add some beer flavor to it.

5. Samuel L. Ipsum

The generator with the best design and the coolest idea, but also some NSFW language, as you could have guessed from the name and the person involved. Make your fake text looks like it comes out of a motherf***ing movie now.

And there is more…

The Internet being what it is, there are still dozens more of fake text generators available freely. I will not list them all here as it would be pointless, but you can easily find other with a quick search.
