There are some really great posters here, vintage posters make a great source of inspiration. Some of these are really iconic like the Metropolis poster and the King Kong too.
fantastic collection, thanks for posting.
That is one inspirational list!

Love the Vertigo poster! They’re all great though.
old is gold
Some really iconic images in this list. Also love the Polish Planet of the Apes poster!
Awesome.. It’s like a little treasure
Inspirational. I particularly enjoy the one for the sci-fi and horror films…Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas is classic.
Great collection! I love vintage posters, especially vintage movie posters! Thanks!
I have to play devils advocate and say that these aren’t really amazing to me. Are they amazing because of the vintage nature, or the iconic movies they represent? However, there are a few that I do feel are amazing. #17 “The Wall” is amazing. If you’ve seen the movie then you will totally connect with the poster. You feel the movie when you look at it. Choosing watercolor as the medium is also an amazing choice. Something that just wouldn’t have been captured with modern digital renderings.
#4 and #7 are also pretty great. The use of color and space really makes them special. Agree/Disagree?
Nice list with the exception of “The Jazz Singer.” I was disappointed to see such a racist poster on here.
The typography on the Ex-Lady poster is amazing, every bit as stunning as the image of Bette Davis. The use of the three or four different font styles gives the poster a whimsical, mercurial feeling. The mix of straight, bold lettering with soft, curving font exudes as much personality as the woman. This poster is an excellent example of the power of typography in graphic design.
@Evie – I understand what you’re saying but I don’t think that excludes it from being a great poster.
A LOT of the films in that era were “Blaxploitation” films and I don’t think it makes sense to paper over that fact, quite the opposite in fact, I think that we should celebrate how much has changed and look back at such titles (and there are many a LOT worse than that one) to see how far we have progressed as moral human beings.
I presume this list was made on artistic merit, rather than any ethical grounds and I think that’s a good thing.
Great list and thanks for sharing it. I’ve done something similar on my blog, but I’ve focussed on the names of the films (only done films starting with “a” so far) because I think that, along with the stunning artwork, it was the actual names of many of these b-movies and horror films that makes them so amusing and attractive!
fantastic
