Unless the license has changed, I would not recommend Karabine for professional designs. I am fairly certain this is a personal use only font.

The FF Reminga Bold Italic is a beatiful font. This is a great list and reference!

Comic Sans MS comes on any Standard computer with Windows XP Home Edition or Higher.

The number of quality free fonts is certainly much better today than it was even a year ago. But keep in mind, if you’re doing “professional” work, you need type families with professionally designed roman, bold, italic, small caps, and (for display work) various widths. Nearly all the fonts here are single styles, not families.
I would use them if i knew what they were for, i don’t, new to the internet world.
Professional-quality freebee fonts are often offered in the hope that while you’re downloading free fonts from a font-publisher’s site, you might also see some others that you’d like well enough to pay for. So bundling-and-posting a collection of fonts from different creators MIGHT be contrary to the terms-of-use for one or more of them. Not an ugly RIAA-type deal, of course, but maybe a too-great stretching of “shareware” courtesy (because unlike with applications, an installed font doesn’t much chance to reap credit for its designer).

I noticed that a couple of these are not available for the Mac. Though the lines between Mac and PC hardware may be closer than ever – Windows is still a far cry from Mac OS X and its ability to handle truly professional typefaces with ease. Not to say you can’t design on a PC, but a true professional uses a Mac.
That being said, this is a decent selection of freebies. Thanks!

I agree with you Stephen, none of these fonts would be suitable for design work requiring a high volume of typographic work, like a book, brochure or magazine design (and others…).
However I think that many of those could be used for logo design, CD covers, flyers, blog titles and so on… Of course, very few of these typefaces have fulle families like Helvetica Neue does, but I think that their designers deserve some exposure for their hard work.

Can these be used on web sites?
I am sorry to inform you that ß cannot be used in all uppercase. It is “Wasserschloß”but “WASSERSCHLOSS”.

This is a pretty nice compilation of typefaces, but some of them are not free for commercial use, which makes them useless for professional designers.
