Photoshop tips
Attitude Design shares 7 tips we are not supposed to know about Photoshop. It’s a pretty good list with nice tricks for the Photoshop beginners, although there is one that I didn’t agree with, using Hue & Saturation to turn a colored image into grayscale. This, I think, is not the best solution. Instead, go to Image > Adjustment > Channel mixer and play with the density of each color to have a better control over the shades of grey. (sorry, no screenshots my Photoshop is in french)

I use hue and saturation(ctrl+U) to turn pictures into grayscale. channel mizer is also okay. or why don’t you try adjustments>photo filter>use color>adjust density
the colors become warmer. check preserve luminosity.
