Interesting thoughts at David Shea’s Mezzoblue on the interest for designers to sell web products. He describes 6 ways to make money selling products: t-shirts, buttons, icons, stock photography, typefaces and web templates. He doesn’t seem to believe in the viability of selling such products online, but seems to be quite happy with his experience selling icons.

I’ve had small experiences selling stuff online or providing free goodies, and I’d say that the interest may not be to make big money, but to build a reputation and sell your services. Because that’s what we are after all, service providers.

For those of you thinking of other ways to make money online, I recommend the FreelanceSwitch guide to creating a passive income.
