Among 108 countries represented in the 2020-2021 World Design Rankings (WDR), China took the first place with 86 Platinum Design Awards won globally by the country, followed by the United States of America, Japan, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany. The results were announced by WDR recently after an international jury decided the results.

About the World Design Rankings

The WDR aim to provide more insights to experts and journalists regarding the design industry. Doing this, WDR contribute to the global design culture through advocating and highlighting good design. It also serves to highlight creative strengths by countries based on their success in the various design categories. It helps to answer trivial questions such as: “Which country is the best at industrial design?” or “Which country has the best fashion design industry?”.

The business insights go further than just comparing countries, they provide you with data on the strengths and weaknesses by region, and they give you design opportunities tables. If you are more interested in industries, the rankings are also organized by categories, which makes it very convenient if you want to find the topi graphic designers in Japan or interior designers in Russia. For this type of category-based classifications, you should check out the design classifications website. To find rankings organized by individual designers, you should check the Designers Rankings website.
